Twee popper’s Allo Darlin’ describe themselves as “a fan’s band. They are close friends that found each other and the music they make in London. Elizabeth and Bill are from Australia, Mike and Paul are from Kent. They’ve only been playing seriously as a band since January 2009, although Elizabeth has been releasing music under various guises since 2007.”

Their debut album was released on Fortuna POP! in June 2010…

Song of the Day – Thursday 7/15/2010 Sourpatch July 15, 2010

Sourpatch are a San Jose foursome who mix twee pop with indie rock to create a sound reminiscent of their self-professed love of 1990’s pop.

Their label Happy Happy Birthday to Me claims the band, “formed from a mutual love of songs about unbearably impossible romances, Sourpatch plays in the vein of influences such as Tiger Trap, Rocketship, Velocity Girl, Cub, Heavenly, Go Sailor, Black Tambourine, and so many 90’s west coast babes!”  Their debut album, Crushin’ was released the beginning of this year.

No local shows coming up, but MizMuze will keep you posted so check the Conzert Calendar daily…

One part Polyphonic spree, one part Phil Spector, and one huge helping of Brian Wilson and that’s the recipe for Memphis Tennessee’s Magic Kids.  Their debut album, Memphis will drop on 8/24/10.

The Magic Kids will be supporting Ariel Pink on 7/10/10 at Bimbo’s in San Francisco.

Song of the Day – Monday 4/5/2010 Camera Obscura April 5, 2010

MizMuze ate all the Peeps the Easter Bunny brought her yesterday and is now suffering the inevitable consequences (really though, who can resist those adorable yellow marshmallows, with their beady brown eyes all covered in sugar?!)  So…today’s SOTD just happens to come from MizMuze’s #1 Top Ten album of 2009!

Camera Obscura’s 4th LP, My Maudlin Career was in constant rotation on MizMuze’s car stereo, iTunes, iPod, MacBook Pro, iPhone etc (yes Apple, MizMuze would love a free iPad if offered).  Needless to say, I can’t wait to see the twee Scottish band when they will be playing their sold out show at the Great American Music Hall on 4/21 and opening up for Yo La Tengo at the Fillmore on 4/22!!!
