Song of the Day – Thursday 5/6/2010 Twin Sister May 6, 2010

MizMuze has been spinning Brooklyn-based quintet, Twin Sister’s spacey new disco single “All Around and Away We Go” for a while now.  At first listen, Andrea Estrella’s voice sounds a bit like “huh?”  But later she’s bound to take you away, and make you feel like you’re surrounded in a Calgon bath full of “ahhh…”

Give the track a spin or four, and pick up their new EP, Color Your Life which will be released on 5/25/2010.

You can also see Twin Sister make their West Coast debut when they open up for Bear in Heaven at the Rickshaw Stop in San Francisco on 7/26/2010.

Former Sex Pistols manager Malcolm McLaren dead at age 64 April 8, 2010

Malcolm McLaren, impresario, pop culture pioneer, self-promoter and former manager of the Sex Pistols and the New York Dolls passed away today of mesothelioma in New York City at the age of 64.

In 1975, McLaren discovered John Lydon after spotting him wearing torn clothes, green hair and the words “I hate” scribbled on the front of his Pink Floyd t-shirt.  Lydon’s anti-establishment attitude impressed McLaren who changed Lydon’s  name to Johnny Rotten and thus the Sex Pistols were born.

John Lydon’s newly reunited Public Image Ltd. (PiL) are about to embark on their first tour in over 17 years.  PiL will perform at San Franciso’s Regency Ballroom on 4/17/2010.
