Iceland’s Jónsi, lead singer of Sigur Rós released his debut solo album, Go on 4/5/2010.  The video for “Animal Arithmetic” dropped yesterday and is a celebration of life, full of confetti and fireworks, and is sure to be used in a commercial soon enough.

See Jónsi, his cello bow, and guitar on 10/19/2010 at the Fox Theater in Oakland…

Song of the Day – Tuesday 5/18/2010 Broken Social Scene May 18, 2010

MizMuze had some upload issues (most likely user-error) and had intended on featuring Band of Horses’ song “Factory” today (see the next post for more info).

So instead, please enjoy a tune from Canada’s Broken Social Scene; a musical collective (sometimes as large as 19 band members) which include members from Stars, Metric, Feist, and Jason Collett.  The band’s fourth studio album, Forgiveness Rock Record was released on 5/4/2010.

Look!  Up in the sky…it’s a bird…it’s a plane…it’s Supergroup, Broken Social Scene!

Song of the Day – Friday 3/26/2010 The Besnard Lakes March 26, 2010

Don’t call The Besnard Lakes the new John and Yoko.  Husband and wife team Jace Lasek and Olga Goreas make up The Besnard Lakes, a four-piece indie rock band hailing from Montreal, Canada.  Their sound has been described as expansive and generational, ranging from psychedelic ’60s rock, to cosmic ’70s pop, to post rock and shoegaze.

The band’s third album, The Besnard Lakes Are the Roaring Night was released on 3/9/20210 which Jace Lasek describes as, “psychedelic rock – each song is its own little world, an atmosphere.  I’ve always been enamored with these songs that take forever to get going, long songs that build, with a story and a long build to a climax…very much like that. Each song is a story and we really want people to listen to the record in its entirety.”
