So what’s a girl to do now that LCD Soundsystem have broken up?!  Well, a girl like MizMuze will wipe her tears, dust herself off, and move on…move on to Holy Ghost! that is.  The band’s self-titled debut album dropped 4/5/2011 on DFA Records (James Murphy’s label).

The DJ duo from Brooklyn will be spooking the Bay Area with a headling show on 4/15 at the Blank Club in San Jose with Geographer, and will perform opening act duties for Cut Copy on 4/16 and 4/17 at the Regency Ballroom in San Francisco.

So Daft Punk‘s OFFICIAL soundtrack for Tron: Legacy finally dropped last week after much secrecy and phony tracks.  Who better to score the music to the 28-year-old sequel about living inside a computer game, than Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel De Homem-Christo, the techno-savvy duo who make a living as Robot DJs?!

The music can only be described as Neo-Prog-Unicorn Rock, which is reason enough to drop a few quarters off at Flynn’s Arcade this Friday when Tron: Legacy opens up!

Check out the vid for “Derezzed” and see if the dynamic duo finally unmask themselves after their cyber-dual and reveal their true identity (if you’re unable to view the vid below, click on the “Watch on YouTube” link)…

MizMuze is so busy saving the world today, that the SOTD post is super-short but super-sweet, and is sure to get you dancin’ whether you’re cooking, cleaning, stuck in holiday traffic, or workin’ for the man!

Les Sins is the dance side-project of Toro y Moi aka Chaz Bundick.  His 12″ “Lina” b/w “Youth Gone” was released on 11/9/2010 on Carpark Records and was recorded in the spring of 2009 in Chaz’s home studio in Columbia, South Carolina.

Pittsburgh’s Gregg Gillis, aka Girl Talk, is a musician/DJ who left the world of biomedical engineering to become a full-time mashup artist.  Because Gillis does not get permission from the original artists to create his mashups, the New York Times calls Girl Talk’s music “a lawsuit waiting to happen.”

Girl Talk’s fifth album, All Day was released last week on Illegal Art.  You can choose to either download it as separate tracks or as one seamless file and listen to it as it was “intended to be listened to as a whole.”  You can download the entire album for FREE here!

On the track, “Jump on Stage” Girl Talk samples everyone from Portishead, 50 Cent, Talking Heads, Radiohead, Iggy Pop, to Lady Gaga plus several more…

On stage, Girl Talk has been known to strip down to his skivvies and put on a crazy-ass show!  You’ll get to see first hand, what all mixing and mashing looks like when Girl Talk performs at the Fox Theater in Oakland on 3/18/2011!

What do Ziggy Stardust, Sasha Fierce, and Diamond Rings have in common?  They are the alter-egos of David Bowie, Beyonce Knowles, and John O’Regan.  What, you’ve never heard of John O’Regan?  Well, in Toronto he’s known as the lead singer of indie rock group, D’Urbervilles.

It appears that John O is playing up the whole “girls who are boys/who like boys to be girls” scene, and working it to his advantage.  In fact, his debut album, Special Affections was released last month with Pitchfork giving the album an 8.2 stating, “The fact that O’Regan never lets on whether he’s singing to a boy or a girl further emphasizes its universal applications.”  Marketing genius.

So Girls and Boys, get your rainbow eyeshadow on and head over to Popscene on Thanksgiving on 11/25/10 and see Diamond Rings in action…he may just dedicate a song to you.

After witnessing the amazing rescue efforts of the Chilean miners, MizMuze feels like getting her dance on!

What better way to celebrate than to get four-on-the-floor with Chromeo, the electrofunk duo from Montreal, Canada.  Chromeo are P-Thugg (Patrick Gemayel) on keyboards, synthesizers and talk box, and Dave 1 (David Macklovitch) on guitar and lead vocals. The two have been best friends since childhood and describe themselves as “the only successful Arab/Jewish collaboration since the beginning of time.”

Their third album, Business Casual was released on 9/18/2010.  You can witness, firsthand, “Peace in the Middle East” when Chromeo hit up the East Bay on 2/18/2011 (that’s right, this is the first band of twenty-ELEVEN to enter the Concert Calendar!) at the Fox Theater in Oakland…

Song of the Day – Thursday 8/12/2010 M.I.A. August 12, 2010

Mathangi “Maya” Arulpragasam, AKA  M.I.A., released the video for her latest single, “XXXO”off her third album, /\/\/\Y/\ (MAYA) yesterday.  The video was directed by Hype Williams and is a departure from her first single “Born Free” and a return to what Entertainment Weekly described as a “techno-tinged dance record…what we hoped for from our Sri Lankan anti-pop star.”
