COMMON INTERPRETATIONS ARE CHK CHK CHK, POW POW POW, UH UH UH: UNLIMITED POSSIBILITIES.”  Huh Huh Huh ? ? ?

The band’s third LP Strange Weather, Isn’t It? will be released next month, but until then, enjoy this funky head-tripper…

Song of the Day – Monday 5/10/2010 Matt & Kim May 10, 2010

Sorry for the late SOTD, MizMuzers.  It’s been a busy morning and it’s gonna be a busy week (you know, day job, saving the planet etc.).  So, there may be a delay in getting out the SOTD in a timely fashion this week—please be patient and bear with me just for this week…

Gonna make this post short and sweet (a bit like MizMuze)…just a good band with a great vid…hailing from Brooklyn, New York, Matt & Kim are a power pop duo who met while they were both attending the Pratt Institue.  Their second album, Grand was released last year on the  Fader Label and this video for “Lessons Learned” won the award for breakthrough video at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards.

Matt & Kim – Lessons Learned

Song of the Day – Friday 5/7/2010 Crystal Castles May 7, 2010

Toronto’s electro-punk duo Crystal Castles are known for several things: crazy strobe-light shows, copyright infringements, violent fits on stage, last-minute gig cancellations, oh, and great music.

How producer/songwriter Ethan Kath and vocalist Alice Glass are able to get away with their antics has much to do with the fact that they really do make great music, however, that too is debatable.  Their music has been described as, “the kind of music that you just want to follow like a cult, or hate, with every fibre of your being.”

Crystal Castles’s second self-titled album (we’ll call this one: Crystal Castles 2010) will drop on 5/24/2010.  They will also headline the HARD Summer Tour at the Fox Theater in Oakland on 8/6/2010 (let’s cross our fingers that they actually show up, and even more importantly, that they’ll be ballin’ not brawlin’ on stage)…

Crystal Castles – Celestica

Let’s get this Monday started with a disco-dance party!  London-based band, Chew Lips draw from Blondie, Prince, LCD Soundsystem, and Hot Chip.  Lead singer Tigs describes how they came up with their name:  “Chew Lips is from a book called “Borstal Boy” which is by a Irish author named Brendan Behan. We think its kind of sleazy and kind of sexy and a bad pun, it describes us quite well.”

Chew Lips – Salt Air

Chew Lips are leaving the States after SXSW and heading back to England:

Song of the Day – Tuesday 2/16/2010 Sleigh Bells February 16, 2010

STOP…don’t adjust that dial!  Brooklyn’s unsigned duo, Sleigh Bells wants to blow out your speakers, or at least sound like they’ve blown them out from first distorted beat…

Sleigh Bells – A/B Machines

Sleigh Bells will be opening up for Yeasayer on 4/17/2010 at The Fillmore.

Check out all Sleigh Bells sensory overloaded tunes:
