Florida’s Million Young aka, Mike Diaz is surfing the wave of Chaz Bundwick and Ernest Green—you know them better as Toro y Moi and Washed Out, so of course it’s a chillwave.

Perhaps Diaz’s wave is a couple of years behind the rest of the chillwavers, but he’s good at what he does, plus, he’s got what the other’s don’t—he’s a musical soothsayer…

Back in 2009 Diaz was talking about what bands he was currently listening to and made the prediction about Beach House, “2010 hasn’t even started yet, but judging from the bits I’ve heard of Teen Dream, I can tell these guys already have a serious album of the year contender by anyone’s standards.”  If the music thing doesn’t work out (MizMuze predicts it will) perhaps he can make it as a fortune-teller.

Million Young’s EP, Be So True  was released on 1/26/10.

Fever Ray is the solo project of Karin Dreijer Andersson, who is one half of the Swedish electro act The Knife (the other half is her brother Olof Dreijer).  On 9/7/2010 Fever Ray released a 7″ cover of Peter Gabriel’s “Mercy Street” on Mute in the US and Canada.

As The Knife, Karin and her bro rarely make public appearances, and when they do they usually show up in makeup or masks.  As Fever Ray, Karin follows the undercover tradition.  In the disturbingly cool pics below it seems that Fever Ray continues her homage to Mr. Gabriel’s “Shock the Monkey” days…

Song of the Day – Friday 8/20/2010 Deerhunter August 20, 2010

Okay kidz, MizMuze and friendz are heading to the Ta-hoe Nalu today so the SOTD post is a shorty…

Georgia’s indie four-piece, Deerhunter will release their fourth album, Halcyon Digest on 9/28/2010…

It’s not duck season or wabbit season in the Bay Area…it’s Deer Season!   See Deerhunter, along with Real Estate when they perform two nights in San Francisco:  10/29 at the Great American Music Hall, and on 10/30 at Slim’s.

Deerhunter – Revival

Song of the Day – Tuesday 4/27/2010 Washed Out April 27, 2010

Fo’ rizzle, another drizzle?!  It’s the end of April and it’s raining…again!  Who’s ready for full-time rock steady sunshine?  Well, MizMuze is here to help.  Close your eyes and let the chillwave sounds of Washed Out take you away.

Ernest Greene aka Washed Out, created this beautiful chillout tune off the Life of Leisure EP, at night in his bedroom while his parents were asleep at their home in Georgia.

The term “chillwave” was actually created in 2009 by Carles of Hipster Runoff in order to describe the Washed Out sound.  So let’s ride this chillwave until April Showers give way to May Flowers…

Song of the Day – Monday 3/8/2010 Sparklehorse March 8, 2010

Today’s SOTD is in honor of Mark Linkous, lead singer of Sparklehorse who committed suicide on Saturday 3/6/2010.   Linkous had also worked as a record producer and had collaborated with Nina Persson of The Cardigans, Daniel Johnston, Danger Mouse, and David Lynch.  This was not Linkous’s first brush with death, in 1996 Linkous almost died after taking a dangerous mix of valium and anti-depressants.  Linkous was 47 when he passed.  On the Sparklehorse website the Linkous family posted: “It is with great sadness that we share the news that our dear friend and family member, Mark Linkous, took his own life today. We are thankful for his time with us and will hold him forever in our hearts. May his journey be peaceful, happy and free. There’s a heaven and there’s a star for you.” – March 6, 2010

Song of the Day – Tuesday 2/2/2010 Sister Crayon March 2, 2010

This Sacramento quartet started off as a one-woman-band, with Terra Lopez making ambient recordings alone in her bedroom. However, in the past year Sister Crayon isn’t as lonely, and has now morphed into a four-piece creating experimental trip hop, with a hint of electonica…

Sister Crayon – (in) Reverse

Sister Crayon’s debut album “Bellow” is scheduled for release in mid-2010 and they will be opening for Frank Turner at the Rickshaw Stop on 4/14/2010:
